Agar Agar (Gelidiella Acerosa) is a substance obtained from several varieties of seaweed that grows off the East Indian coast. Agar consists of a mixture of agarose and agaropectin. Agarose, the predominant component of agar, is a linear polymer, made up of the repeating monomeric unit of agarobiose. Agarobiose is a disaccharide made up of D-galactose and 3,6-anhydro-L-galactopyranose. Minoya Tarozaemon in Japan discovered Agar around 1658*

Suggested Use: Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Store in a cool dry place.

Suggested use and dosage for adults: Shake well before use. 20-30 drops (1 ml., one full squeeze of dropper), up to 4 times a day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal tinctures is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water, tea, or juice and drink the entire contents. Tinctures can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some tinctures are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.

Agar is a common food-grade gelling agent, but it swells with water - a few cautions are important.
- Take with plenty of fluid: agar absorbs water and swells - always take it with a full glass of water, and do NOT use it if you have difficulty swallowing, a narrowing of the esophagus or gut, or any bowel obstruction, because of the risk of choking or blockage.
- Get medical help: seek immediate medical attention if chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty swallowing or breathing occurs after taking it.
- Medications: agar is a bulk fiber that can slow the absorption of medicines - take it well apart from any medication and consult your practitioner.
- Pregnancy / nursing: there is not enough reliable information on agar in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is best avoided.
- Contains alcohol. Do not give it to infants or young children. If you take any medication or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Keep out of reach of children.
