About Acacia arabica

Acacia (Vachellia nilotica, long known as Acacia arabica or Acacia nilotica) is a thorny tree of the pea family, Fabaceae, native to Africa, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent, where it is called babul or kikar. It grows to about 15 meters with dark, deeply fissured bark, paired straight white spines, feathery bipinnate leaves, and fragrant golden-yellow flower balls followed by constricted, necklace-like seed pods. The bark is rough and astringent to the taste, and the tree is a well-known source of tannin and firewood across dry savanna country. We extract the dried bark.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
