About Euterpe oleracea

Acai (Euterpe oleracea) is a slender, clustering palm of the palm family, Arecaceae, native to the floodplains and estuaries of the Amazon basin in Brazil, Colombia, and the Guianas. Multiple grey stems rise 15 to 25 meters, each crowned with arching pinnate fronds, and the trees fruit in hanging bunches of several hundred round drupes about 1 to 2 centimeters across that ripen from green to deep purple-black. The thin pulp around the large seed tastes earthy and slightly like unsweetened chocolate, and it is pulped into a thick purple drink that is a staple food in Para state. We extract the dried berry.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
