About Pterocarpus soyauxii

African Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) is a large deciduous tree of the pea family, Fabaceae, native to the rainforests of Central and tropical West Africa from Nigeria and Cameroon to Congo and Angola. It grows 30 meters or more with a straight grey trunk, pinnate leaves of 7 to 11 leaflets, fragrant yellow-orange flowers, and round, winged, papery pods. The heartwood is a vivid coral-red that darkens to purple-brown with age and is prized by woodworkers and instrument makers; its bark and sawdust yield a red powder that has long served as a body and textile dye. We extract the dried bark.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
