Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) is a perennial of the rose family, Rosaceae, native to hedgerows, field edges, and dry grassland across Europe, western Asia, and North Africa, and introduced to North America. It grows 30 to 100 centimeters with a softly hairy stem, pinnate leaves of toothed leaflets that are grey-green beneath, and a long, slender spike of small five-petaled yellow flowers that open from the bottom up through summer. The flowers give way to burr-like, hooked fruits that cling to clothing and fur, and the whole plant has a faint apricot scent when crushed. We extract the dried above-ground parts.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
