About Succinum

Amber (Succinum) is not a plant but fossilized tree resin, most of it Baltic amber some 40 million years old; its parent trees were extinct conifers placed close to the pine family, Pinaceae, or to the umbrella-pine family, Sciadopityaceae. It is found along the southern Baltic coast of Poland, Lithuania, and Russia, washed up after storms or mined from blue-earth clay. Amber is light, warm to the touch, and ranges from clear honey-yellow to cloudy white and dark cognac brown, often trapping ancient insects. It smells of pine when rubbed or heated and has been carved into beads since the Stone Age. We extract the dried amber resin.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
