About Anastatica hierochuntica

Anastatica (Anastatica hierochuntica), the true rose of Jericho or Maryam's flower, is a small annual of the mustard family, Brassicaceae, native to the deserts of North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Middle East from Morocco to Iran. It grows only 5 to 15 centimeters, with grey-hairy spoon-shaped leaves and tiny white four-petaled flowers along the branches. After the seeds set, the plant dies and its branches curl inward into a tight, woody, fist-sized ball that can blow across the sand for years; when wetted the branches unfold within hours and release the seeds, then close again as they dry. We extract the dried flower.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
