About Betula pendula

Birch (Betula pendula), the silver birch or European white birch, is a slender deciduous tree of the birch family, Betulaceae, native across Europe and into Siberia, Turkey, and the Caucasus, and planted as an ornamental in North America. It grows 15 to 25 meters with a white, papery trunk marked by black diamond-shaped fissures and a light crown of thin, drooping, warty branchlets that gives the species its name. The leaves are small, triangular, and doubly toothed, sticky with resin when they unfold in spring and clear yellow in autumn; the flowers are catkins. Young leaves taste faintly bitter. We extract the dried leaf.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
