About Cordyceps sinensis

Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis, now classified as Ophiocordyceps sinensis), the caterpillar fungus or yartsa gunbu, is not a plant but a parasitic fungus of the Ophiocordycipitaceae family, native to alpine meadows at 3,000 to 5,000 meters on the Tibetan plateau and in the Himalaya of Nepal, Bhutan, and India. Its spores settle on ghost moth caterpillars underground; the fungus consumes the larva over winter and in spring sends up a single slender, dark brown, club-shaped stalk 4 to 10 centimeters tall from the mummified caterpillar's head. The wild product is among the costliest natural materials in the world; most commercial supply is fermented mycelium. We extract the dried whole fungus.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
