About Zea mays

Corn Silk (Zea mays) is the tuft of long, silky threads that emerges from the tip of a maize ear; maize itself is a giant annual grass of the grass family, Poaceae, domesticated from wild teosinte in southern Mexico some 9,000 years ago and now the most widely grown grain crop on earth. The plant stands 2 to 3 meters with a single stout stalk, broad, arching leaves, a male tassel at the top, and husk-wrapped ears lower down. Each silk is the style of a single female flower and must catch a pollen grain for a kernel to form. We extract the dried silk.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
