Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum) is an annual of the pea family, Fabaceae, native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean and widely sown as a winter cover crop and forage across the southeastern United States, where it also colors spring roadsides. It grows 30 to 60 centimeters with soft, hairy, upright stems, trifoliate leaves of broad, rounded leaflets, and distinctive elongated, cone-shaped flower heads 3 to 5 centimeters tall of brilliant crimson pea flowers that open from the bottom up in April and May. Each head sets dozens of tiny, glossy, yellow to purplish seeds. We extract the dried seed.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
