About Maclura tricuspidata

Cudrania (Maclura tricuspidata, long known as Cudrania tricuspidata), the Chinese mulberry, che, or mandarin melon berry, is a thorny deciduous tree of the mulberry family, Moraceae, native to China, Korea, and Japan and planted in the southern United States as a fruit curiosity. It grows 6 to 12 meters with grey-brown bark, stout axillary thorns on young growth, and glossy leaves that are oval or three-lobed, the Latin epithet referring to the three points. Small green flower balls ripen on female trees into round, bumpy, red aggregate fruits 2 to 5 centimeters across that taste of watermelon and fig. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
