About Oenothera biennis

Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis) is a biennial of the willowherb family, Onagraceae, native to eastern and central North America and naturalized across Europe and Asia. In its first year it forms a flat rosette of lance-shaped leaves; in the second it sends up a reddish stem to 1.5 m topped with pale yellow, four-petaled flowers that open at dusk and smell faintly of lemon. The long seed capsules hold tiny oil-rich seeds. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
