False Daisy (Eclipta prostrata), called bhringraj in India and han lian cao in China, is a low-growing annual of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to the tropics and found in wet ground worldwide. Its sprawling, often reddish stems carry narrow, roughly hairy leaves and small white, button-like flower heads. The crushed plant turns black on drying, which is why its Chinese name refers to ink. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
