About Chamaelirium luteum

False Unicorn (Chamaelirium luteum), also called fairywand or helonias, is a perennial of the bunchflower family, Melanthiaceae, native to moist woods of the eastern United States. From a basal rosette of spoon-shaped leaves rises a slender stalk to 1 m bearing a long, drooping spike of tiny white flowers, with male and female flowers on separate plants. The rough, bitter rhizome is slow to regrow, and wild populations are under harvest pressure. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
