Fan Bai Ye Shu (Pterospermum heterophyllum) is an evergreen tree of the mallow family, Malvaceae, native to the hills of southern China and Vietnam. It grows to 20 m with two kinds of leaves, lobed and oblong, that are green above and silvery-white with dense felt beneath, which gives the Chinese name meaning "half-maple half-white tree". Large white flowers open at night, followed by woody capsules holding winged seeds. We extract the dried timber.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
