About Euryale ferox

Foxnut (Euryale ferox), also called gorgon plant or makhana, is a prickly annual water lily of the water-lily family, Nymphaeaceae, native to still ponds from eastern India to China, Korea and Japan. Its round floating leaves can span 1.5 m, quilted and spiny above and purple beneath, with small violet flowers held among the thorns. The pea-sized, starchy seeds are puffed like popcorn in India and are known as qian shi in China. We extract the dried seed.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
