About Fraxinus chinensis

Fraxinus (Fraxinus chinensis), the Chinese ash or qin pi, is a deciduous tree of the olive family, Oleaceae, native to China, Korea and Vietnam. It reaches 15-20 m with grey, fissured bark, pinnate leaves of 5-9 toothed leaflets and winged seeds that hang in bunches. Strips of the bark are greyish-brown outside and bitter inside, and an infusion of the bark shows a blue fluorescence in sunlight because of its coumarins. We extract the dried bark.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
