Garcinia (Garcinia gummi-gutta, widely sold as Garcinia cambogia), the Malabar tamarind, is an evergreen tree of the mangosteen family, Clusiaceae, native to the Western Ghats of India and Sri Lanka. It grows 5-20 m with glossy, dark green leaves and small yellow flowers. The yellow to orange fruit is the size of a small orange and deeply grooved like a pumpkin, with a very sour rind that is dried and smoked for Kerala fish curries. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
