About Glehnia littoralis

Glehnia (Glehnia littoralis), the beach silvertop or bei sha shen, is a low perennial of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to sandy seashores of China, Korea, Japan and the Russian Far East, with a related population on the Pacific coast of North America. It hugs the sand with fleshy, grey-green, divided leaves and dense umbels of small white flowers covered in soft hairs. The long, slender taproot is pale yellow and slightly sweet. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
