About Solidago virgaurea

Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea), the European goldenrod, is a perennial of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to Europe, North Africa and temperate Asia. It grows 30-100 cm tall with stiff, slightly ridged stems, lance-shaped toothed leaves and, in late summer, branching spikes of small golden-yellow flower heads. Unlike most of its North American cousins, its flower clusters are narrow and upright rather than plume-like. The flowering herb has a faintly bitter, astringent taste. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
