About Viola tricolor

Heartsease (Viola tricolor), the wild pansy or johnny-jump-up, is a small annual or short-lived perennial of the violet family, Violaceae, native to Europe and temperate Asia and naturalized in North America. It grows 10-30 cm tall with oval to heart-shaped, toothed leaves and flowers up to 2.5 cm across in purple, yellow and white, often all three on one bloom. It is one of the parents of the garden pansy. The flowering herb has a mild, slightly sweet taste. We extract the dried leaf and flower.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
