Indian Mallow (Abutilon indicum), the country mallow or atibala, is a soft, velvety shrub of the mallow family, Malvaceae, native to tropical and subtropical Asia and spread across the tropics. It grows 1-2 m tall with heart-shaped, finely toothed, hairy leaves and solitary orange-yellow flowers that open in the evening. The fruit is a ring of 15-20 hairy, pointed segments that looks like a small wheel, each holding dark, bean-shaped seeds. We extract the dried seed.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
