About Dalbergia odorifera

Jiang Xiang (Dalbergia odorifera), the fragrant rosewood, is a semi-evergreen tree of the legume family, Fabaceae, native to Hainan and neighboring parts of southern China. It grows 10-15 m with pinnate leaves of 9-13 leaflets and clusters of small, pale yellow pea flowers followed by thin, flat pods. The deep red-brown heartwood is dense, oily and sweetly fragrant, prized in Ming furniture as huanghuali; wild trees are listed as Vulnerable. We extract the dried heartwood.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
