Labrador Tea (Rhododendron groenlandicum, long known as Ledum groenlandicum) is a low evergreen shrub of the heath family, Ericaceae, native to bogs, muskeg and wet conifer woods across Canada, Alaska, Greenland and the northern United States. It grows 30-100 cm tall with leathery, narrow leaves that curl under at the edges and are coated beneath with dense rusty-orange wool, and bears rounded clusters of small white flowers in early summer. The leaves are strongly aromatic and resinous when crushed. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
