Lemon (Citrus x limon) is a small evergreen tree of the citrus family, Rutaceae, a hybrid of citron and sour orange that originated in northeastern India or Myanmar and spread through Persia to the Mediterranean, where Spain and Italy are major growers. It grows 3-6 m with thorny branches, glossy oval leaves and white flowers flushed purple on the outside. The oval, yellow fruit has a nipple at one end and a thin, oil-rich peel with a sharp, fresh citrus scent over very sour pulp. We extract the dried peel.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
