Lime (Citrus x aurantiifolia), the Key lime or Mexican lime, is a small, thorny evergreen tree of the citrus family, Rutaceae, a hybrid that originated in Southeast Asia and spread through the Middle East to the Mediterranean and the Americas. It grows 3-5 m with glossy oval leaves and small white flowers. The round fruit is 3-5 cm across, thin-skinned, yellow-green when ripe and very acidic, with an intense, sharp aroma in the peel. We extract the dried peel.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
