Liu Ji Nu (Artemisia anomala), the Chinese mugwort named for the general Liu Yu, is a perennial of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to central and southern China. It grows 80-150 cm tall with upright, reddish stems, oblong, sharply toothed leaves that are green on both sides, unlike most Artemisia, and long, dense panicles of tiny yellowish-white flower heads in late summer. The dried herb is grey-green and faintly aromatic with a bitter taste. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
