About Citrus reticulata

Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) is a small evergreen tree of the citrus family, Rutaceae, native to southern China and northeastern India and the parent of tangerines, clementines and satsumas. It grows 3-5 m with slender branches, narrow glossy leaves and fragrant white flowers. The small, flattened orange fruit has a loose, thin peel that comes away easily and segments that separate cleanly, with a sweet, aromatic taste. In China the sun-dried peel, chen pi, is aged for years and darkens and intensifies in scent. We extract the dried peel and the dried seed separately.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
