About Crassostrea gigas

Mu Li (Crassostrea gigas, now placed by many authorities in Magallana as Magallana gigas) is the Pacific oyster, a bivalve mollusk of the oyster family, Ostreidae, native to the coasts of Japan and northeastern Asia and farmed on every continent. Its rough, elongated, fluted shell grows to 15-30 cm, grey-white outside with purple streaks and smooth, pearly white inside with a single purple muscle scar. The shell is almost pure calcium carbonate; it is cleaned, dried and calcined or ground to a fine grey-white powder. We extract the powdered shell.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
