About Verbascum densiflorum

Mullein (Verbascum densiflorum), the dense-flowered or large-flowered mullein, is a tall biennial of the figwort family, Scrophulariaceae, native to Europe and western Asia and naturalized in parts of North America. Like its common cousin it forms a felted grey-green rosette and a woolly spike to 2 m, but its flowers are larger, 3-5 cm across, bright yellow and packed so densely that the spike looks solid in bloom, and its leaves run down the stem in narrow wings. The flowers are honey-scented and mild. We extract the dried flower.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
