About Allium cepa

Onion (Allium cepa) is a biennial bulb of the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae, that was domesticated in Central Asia so long ago that no wild population is known, and is now grown on every continent. It sends up hollow, blue-green tubular leaves 40-60 cm tall and, in its second year, a stout stalk topped with a globe of small white or greenish flowers. The bulb is built of fleshy, concentric scales in a papery brown, yellow, red or white skin, and when cut it releases pungent sulfur compounds that sting the eyes. We extract the dried bulb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
