Pomegranate Peel is the dried rind of the fruit of Punica granatum, a deciduous shrub or small tree of the loosestrife family, Lythraceae, native from Iran to northern India and cultivated across the Mediterranean, the Middle East and California. The plant reaches 5 to 8 meters with glossy narrow leaves and bright orange-red crinkled flowers. The leathery red-brown fruit is crowned by a persistent calyx and holds hundreds of juicy seed arils packed between papery membranes. The thick rind is astringent and rich in tannins. We extract the dried peel.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
