Pot Marigold (Calendula officinalis) is a short-lived perennial, usually grown as an annual, of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean and now grown in gardens worldwide. It reaches 30 to 60 cm with sticky, aromatic, pale green lanceolate leaves and bright orange or yellow daisy-like flower heads 4 to 7 cm across that open in the morning and close toward evening. The curved, ridged seeds are shaped like small boats and claws. We extract the dried flower.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
