Qing Hao (Artemisia annua) is sweet annual wormwood, an aromatic annual of the daisy family, Asteraceae, native to temperate Asia and now naturalized across Europe and North America on waste ground and riverbanks. It grows 1 to 2 meters tall with a single branching stem, finely divided, fern-like, bright green leaves, and loose panicles of tiny nodding yellow flower heads in late summer. The whole plant has a sweet, camphor-like scent and is the plant source of artemisinin. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
