About Ruta graveolens

Rue (Ruta graveolens) is a woody-based evergreen perennial of the citrus family, Rutaceae, native to the Balkans and the Mediterranean and grown in herb gardens across Europe and the Americas since antiquity. It forms a rounded bush 50 to 90 cm tall with blue-green, deeply divided, spoon-lobed leaves dotted with oil glands that give off a strong, bitter, musky scent, and in summer bears loose clusters of small yellow flowers with fringed petals. The plant is a classic subject of heraldry and gardens. We extract the dried herb.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
