Sang Bai Pi Mulberry (Morus alba) is the white mulberry, a deciduous tree of the mulberry family, Moraceae, native to China and cultivated for millennia as the host plant of the silkworm, now naturalized across Europe and North America. It grows to 10 to 20 meters with glossy, variably lobed, toothed leaves and inconspicuous green catkins, followed by white, pink or dark purple sweet fruit that resemble elongated blackberries. The root bark, sang bai pi, is peeled and dried as a pale fibrous strip. We extract the dried fruit, leaf, root bark and twig separately.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
