Sevenbark (Hydrangea arborescens) is wild or smooth hydrangea, a deciduous shrub of the hydrangea family, Hydrangeaceae, native to the eastern United States from New York to Florida and Oklahoma, where it grows on shaded, rocky slopes and stream banks. It forms a loose mound 1 to 2 meters tall with large, oval, toothed leaves and flat clusters of small creamy-white flowers in summer, often with a few larger sterile flowers at the rim. Its name comes from the bark of older stems, which peels in several thin, papery layers of different colors. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
