About Fructus cnidii

She Chuang Zi (Cnidium monnieri; pharmacopoeial name Fructus Cnidii) is an annual of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to China, Korea and eastern Siberia, where it grows along field margins, riverbanks and damp grassland. It reaches 30 to 80 cm with branching, hollow stems, finely divided, two to three times pinnate leaves and compound umbels of small white flowers in early summer. The fruit is a small oval schizocarp about 2 to 4 mm long with five prominent winged ribs and a strong aromatic scent. The same species appears in our catalogue as Snowparsley. We extract the dried fruit.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
