Snowparsley (Cnidium monnieri) is an annual of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to China, Korea and eastern Siberia and naturalized in parts of Europe and North America, where it grows in damp grassland, along field edges and riverbanks. It reaches 30 to 80 cm with hollow, branching stems and finely divided, lacy leaves, and in early summer carries compound umbels of small white flowers that look like snow sprinkled over the foliage. The small oval fruit has five winged ribs and a strong aromatic scent, and is known in China as she chuang zi. We extract the dried fruit.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
