About Veronica officinalis

Speedwell (Veronica officinalis) is common or heath speedwell, a low, creeping perennial of the plantain family, Plantaginaceae, native to Europe and western Asia and naturalized in eastern North America, where it grows in dry grassland, heaths and open woods. Its hairy stems trail along the ground and root at the nodes, with pairs of oval, finely toothed, slightly leathery leaves, and in early summer send up short upright spikes of small pale lilac-blue flowers veined in darker blue. The heart-shaped seed capsules are flattened. We extract the dried leaf.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
