Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides) is the Chinese star jasmine or confederate jasmine, a woody evergreen climber of the dogbane family, Apocynaceae, native to China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam and planted as an ornamental across the southern United States. Its twining stems reach 3 to 6 meters, with pairs of glossy, dark green, oval leaves, and in late spring it covers itself in clusters of small white, star-shaped, five-petaled flowers with a strong sweet fragrance, though it is not a true jasmine. The leafy stems are known in China as luo shi teng. We extract the dried stem and leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
