Sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) is the round-leaved sundew, a tiny carnivorous perennial of the sundew family, Droseraceae, native to bogs and wet acidic moors across Europe, northern Asia and North America. It forms a flat rosette only a few centimeters across of spoon-shaped leaves on long stalks, each covered in red glandular hairs tipped with glistening droplets of sticky mucilage that trap small insects and slowly fold around them. In summer a thin stalk rises 5 to 20 cm with a one-sided row of small white flowers. We extract the dried whole plant, supplied as a powder.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
