About Lepidium apetalum

Ting Li Zi (Lepidium apetalum) is a pepperweed, a small annual or biennial of the mustard family, Brassicaceae, native to northern China, Mongolia, Korea and Siberia, where it grows along field margins, roadsides and in dry waste ground. It reaches 10 to 30 cm with slender branching stems, narrow, pinnately cut lower leaves and many tiny flowers that, as the species name says, usually lack petals. The flattened, oval seed pods are about 3 mm long, each holding small reddish-brown, oblong seeds that turn slimy when wetted. We extract the dried seed.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
