About Cuscuta chinensis

Tu Si Zi (Cuscuta chinensis) is the Chinese dodder, a leafless parasitic annual of the morning glory family, Convolvulaceae, native to China, Korea, Japan and much of Asia and Australia, where it twines over legumes, wormwoods and other low plants in fields and grassland. It has no roots or true leaves, only thread-like yellow to orange stems that coil around a host and tap into its tissues with small suckers. Dense clusters of tiny white, bell-shaped flowers appear in summer, followed by capsules with small, rough, yellow-brown seeds. We extract the dried seed.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
