Turkey Tail Mushroom (Trametes versicolor) is a common wood-decaying bracket fungus of the family Polyporaceae, found on dead hardwood logs and stumps in forests across North America, Europe and Asia, and known in China as yun zhi and in Japan as kawaratake. It forms thin, leathery, fan-shaped caps 2 to 8 cm across in overlapping tiers, their upper surface velvety and banded in concentric zones of brown, tan, grey, blue and white like the fanned tail of a turkey. The underside is white with tiny pores rather than gills. We extract the dried mushroom.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
