About Typha angustifolia

Typha (Typha angustifolia) is the narrow-leaved cattail or lesser bulrush, a tall perennial of the cattail family, Typhaceae, native to marshes, pond margins and ditches across North America, Europe and Asia. It spreads by stout rhizomes into dense stands 1.5 to 3 meters tall, with narrow, flat, grey-green leaves about 1 cm wide and a stiff stem carrying the familiar dark brown, sausage-shaped female spike, with a gap separating it from the slender male spike above. The male flowers shed fine yellow pollen, known in China as pu huang. We extract the dried pollen.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
