White Oak (Quercus alba) is a large, long-lived deciduous tree of the beech family, Fagaceae, native to eastern and central North America from Quebec to Florida and Texas, where it dominates upland forests on well-drained soils. It grows 25 to 30 meters with a broad, rounded crown of heavy limbs, light grey bark that breaks into loose, flaky plates, and leaves with seven to nine rounded lobes that turn deep red to purple in autumn. The acorns are oval with a shallow, warty cap, and the pale, tight-grained wood is prized for barrels and flooring. We extract the dried bark.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
