White Willow (Salix alba) is a large deciduous tree of the willow family, Salicaceae, native to Europe, western and central Asia and North Africa and naturalized in North America along rivers, lakeshores and wet meadows. It grows 20 to 25 meters with a broad, open crown, grey-brown bark deeply fissured on old trunks, and slender, lanceolate leaves covered in fine silky white hairs beneath, which give the tree its silvery look and its name. Slender yellow catkins appear with the leaves in spring. The bark of young branches is harvested in spring. We extract the dried bark.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
