About Curculigo orchioides

Xian Mao (Curculigo orchioides) is the golden eye-grass, a small stemless perennial of the hypoxis family, Hypoxidaceae, native to southern China, India, Japan and Southeast Asia, where it grows in grassy slopes, forest margins and the shade of hillside scrub. It forms a tuft of narrow, grass-like, pleated leaves 10 to 40 cm long that emerge directly from a short vertical rhizome, with small bright yellow, six-petaled flowers nestled at ground level among the leaf bases. The cylindrical rhizome is dark brown, rough and ringed. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
